Governor Holcomb has declared the 1st week of May 2018 as Lyme Disease Awareness Week. The highest rates of human Lyme infections in Indiana are in the NW counties. You are at risk for serious tick borne vector illnesses every time you go outdoors or simply let your pets inside in the warmer months. The national Lyme epidemic is endemic to St. Joseph County, IN. Tick borne diseases can permanently disable or kill you. The Humanist Forum, a chapter of the American Humanist Association, will host an individual who has been affected by Lyme & wants to share Lyme-centric issues such as prevention, tick removal, diagnosis & treatment, just like INDIANA LYME CONNECT (ILC) does for us. After a toddler died of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever recently in the INDY area there was an outcry from the community & the ILC website has gotten more traffic.
