Buttigieg, Obama Talks Confirmed, Content Unclear

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is among the list of Democrats the news website Politico has indicated met with former President Barack Obama in D.C., to discuss a potential 2020 bid for the Presidency.

Mark Bode, Buttigieg’s Director of Communications, confirmed the Buttigieg and Obama have met several times, most recently for a- quote, “informal, private conversation last fall.”

 

Bode said in a statement, quote,“The Mayor has appreciated President Obama’s interest in the South Bend region both during and since his presidency.”

 

Other Democrats who have met with President Obama include Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and Former Vice President Joe Biden. Politico also reports Obama met with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who last year launched a non-profit investment group in South Bend, with the help of Buttigieg.  

 

According to Politico, during the meetings, Former President Obama has offered advice for hopefuls on how to run for office during a President Trump’s turn in office.
