WVPE invites you to join the Elkhart Symphony for its 68th season - CELEBRATE! Real People, Real Music at the Lerner Theatre under the direction of Brian Groner guest conductor. The February 21st concert marks the 30th Annual Student Concerto Competition, under the sponsorship of ECSO.
The show will feature the 2016 Concerto Competition Winner Lauren Weirich, senior violinist from Elkhart Central HS. She will perform Sarasate's Zergunderweisen-Gypsy Aires. Maggie Yoder and Andrew Nowicki - violinists and former winners, are students at IU Bloomington. They will be featured performing the Bach Double Violin Concerto with the orchestra and Mary Jordan Norell, pianist performing Listz Concerto in Eb. She is a former winner of the competition and now teaches at Goshen College and is head of the Community Music Program. The doors open at 3pm and the concert begins at 4pm.
