JLCO led by Wynton Marsalis at the Debartolo PAC

Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) led by nine-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Wynton Marsalis gave the Presenting Series’ inaugural performance, September 19, 2004, at The Debartolo Performing Arts Center.  They return to mark that special occasion in this 10th anniversary year, Sunday, September 28 at 2:00 PM.

With the belief that jazz is a metaphor for democracy, the Orchestra’s mission is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education and advocacy. Their extensive repertoire includes original compositions by Marsalis and other orchestra members, premieres of works commissioned from contemporary composers, and the masterworks of Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and other jazz giants.

Hailed as "an extraordinarily versatile orchestra" by The Los Angeles Times, the JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER ORCHESTRA is composed of 15 of jazz music's leading soloists under the leadership of musical director  Marsalis. Drawing from an extensive repertoire that includes original compositions by Mr. Marsalis,  and other members of the orchestra, as well as the masterworks of Ellington, Mingus, Coltrane, and other great jazz composers, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis concerts are internationally critically-acclaimed. "The finest big band in the world today," said The Daily Telegraph, UK.
