Pence not worried about Trump impact on governor's race

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence made several stops in northern Indiana Thursday, the second day of  the "Start Your Engines" re-election campaign tour.

Pence appeared confident as he met with diners at Elkhart’s Mayberry Café. The incumbent GOP governor says he’s not concerned about Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump’s impact on his campaign.

“I’m gonna work hard to earn a second term. But I’m also gonna be supporting our presumptive nominee and a Republican congress, because I need a partner in the White House that’ll help us to create jobs in Indiana and advance the kind of policies that have been working here in the Hoosier state and will work all across America,” Pence said.

Pence blames Obama Administration regulations for job losses due to the closing of Peabody Coal and air-conditioning manufacturer Carrier moving its plant to Mexico. He touted the state’s job growth, education reforms, infrastructure spending without tax hikes, and the rollout of HIP (Healthy Indiana Plan) 2.0 as an alternative to Medicaid expansion among his administration's accomplishments.

Pence, his wife Karen, and Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb also made a private appearance with donors at the RV Hall of Fame and attended groundbreaking ceremonies at Grand Design RV in Middlebury and for The Renaissance Project, which is the overhaul of several former Studebaker factory buildings in South Bend for education and economic development.
