AMBS library Elkhart County's model for green building

A recent seminar on "green building" drew about 75 people who have various roles in construction; from general contractors, architects, engineers and others involved in the building trades, to sustainability advocates, local government officials, and others. Presenter Marcus Sheffer is an energy and environmental consultant with the 7group; which advises owners, developers, designers, contractors and product manufacturers on sustainable design. The 7group sponsored the seminar with DJ Construction and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, who also hosted the sessions. AMBS's new library is used as a model for green building and LEED certification in Elkhart County. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
