Back by popular demand, we are hosting our Bat House Workshops once again this spring! We will be hosting two sessions - one on Thursday, April 25th and the other on Friday, April 26th – at the EEC, with both being held from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM on their respective nights. Attendees of both workshops will learn about the interesting lives of bats, globally and locally, and build their very own bat house to install at home!

The Friends of Granger Paths is holding its 16th Annual 5K Run and 1-Mile Family Fun Run Saturday, April 27, at Northpoint Elementary School at 50800 Cherry Rd. in Granger, IN. Co-organized with triMichiana, the race starts at 9:30 a.m. Packet pickup begins at 8 a.m. Entry fees are $30 for the 5K and $10 for the 1-Mile Family Fun Run. Family discounts are available. Prices increase after April 25. Participants receive swag bags. T-shirts available. Prizes awarded. Proceeds will be used to extend the multi-use paths, focusing this year on connecting Fountain Blue neighborhood with Northpoint Elementary School to enhance student safety.
Pears Mill, an 1857 water-powered mill in Buchanan, Michigan’s downtown National Register Historic District, is open 9am to 1 pm each Saturday this summer. The mill is adjacent to the Buchanan Farmers’ Market, which is operating at the same time. There is no charge.

Your body’s function is not only determined by the human cells that create it, but by the other living organisms and environment encountered by you and your ancestors. In this class we will explore gene function and the limits of DNA sequencing, essential interactions between “germs” and the human body, and human evolution to answer the question “Who am I?” Taught by Jody Saylor, biology professor at Goshen College.

Hear a tale and hike a trail with your preschooler to discover the natural wonders around you together! Children and their caregiver(s) gather for a short story that incites curiosity before exploring different places around Merry Lea. This is a 1.5-hour monthly program designed for children ages 3-5, with younger siblings welcome to join, led by a Merry Lea educator.
Registration is not required. Please dress to be outside for the program time.

Learn all about installing and maintaining rain gardens and rain barrels at this informational workshop in April! Elkhart Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting this session about conserving water in your own yard from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at the EEC on two separate nights: April 23rd and April 30th (guests only need to register for ONE evening).
