Going Green

In the interest of being more environmentally responsible, 88.1 WVPE Public Radio has launched an initiative to bring awareness and education to Michiana regarding sustainable living and all things green. Admittedly this is an ambitious challenge, however, we feel it is long overdue and can be accomplished through the combined efforts of many like-minded entities.

We are pleased to report an overwhelming response to our initiative:
• WVPE is currently conducting an in-house audit of environmental business practices with the help of IUSB Sustainable Community Center.
• Our current community calendar is being expanded to include listener submitted green events happening throughout Michiana.
• Our Annual Festival of Art and Music on June 14th at St. Patrick’s Park in South Bend will feature the area’s first Sustainable Living Expo. Exhibitor space is available.

How can you get involved?
• Visit the WVPE website to submit the contact information of your business or organization to be listed on WVPE Green Network.
• Submit your Green Events to the community calendar via the WVPE website.
• Plan to participate and/or attend the Festival of Art and Music and Sustainable Living Expo on June 14th. Exhibitor space is extremely limited, so call me soon for more details. Special underwriting packages are available for expo exhibitors.
• Support your local public radio station 88.1 WVPE.
• Be a major or associate sponsor for this or any of WVPE’s events.

2008 is gearing up to be an exciting time in Michiana. We can make a difference in our world, one step at a time.
