Position Title:

Membership Manager – WVPE Public Radio

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; a minimum of two years of fundraising and/or direct mail marketing experience and a working knowledge of database operations; demonstrated written and oral communications skills; computer literacy; knowledge of and interest in public radio; the ability to prioritize and handle several projects simultaneously.

SUMMARY:        To attain and surpass fundraising goals by securing contributions from individuals.  Help maintain positive contact between WVPE and individual donors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

A.      Database Manager

  1. Master the Raiser’s Edge Fundraising software that manages WVPE’s membership database.
  2. Manage the WVPE membership database.
  3. Ensure timely posting of gifts to database and subsequent batch credit card processing and deposits.
  4. Coordinate required database data entry with part-time employees and volunteers.
  5. Organize and assist with the Major Donor subset of the database in coordination with the Station Manager.

B.      Listener Services Manager

  1. Respond to all listener and member queries in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Manage selection and inventory of premium gifts, drawings, and giveaways.
  3. Develop and coordinate membership-related content on WVPE’s web site using Blackbaud’s Net Community Web Management Services.

C.      Membership Analyst

9.       Prepare reports on trends, comments, and/or problems in membership area.

  1. Provide data for various benchmarking reports that help to improve performance of membership programs.

 
D.      Gift Appeal Coordinator

11.    Coordinate materials used in acquisition, renewal, newsletter, and additional gift mailings.  Familiarity with Adobe In-Design or Illustrator helpful, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel for mail merges.

  1. Manage the inventory of all materials necessary for WVPE’s mail and telemarketing campaigns.
  2. Oversee all off-air activities surrounding WVPE’s on-air membership campaigns including preparing materials and scheduling volunteers.
  3. Maintain good relations with printers, mailing houses, post office, and other membership vendors.

Miscellaneous

  1. Update membership procedures manual as necessary.
  2. Explore expanding membership contact capability into e-mail marketing.
  3. Maintain appropriate confidential information in all matters.
  4. Assist with other promotions and special events activities as needed.
  5. Exhibit a pattern of regular and timely attendance.

Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and AbilitiesA good sense of humor and the ability to collaborate with a variety of personnel, from creative talent to development staff, to productively and effectively achieve goals.  Excellent organizational, time management and analytical skills are essential to meet deadlines, plus the abilities to prioritize and handle several projects simultaneously.  Understanding of and passion for public radio programming is desirable.
