“The Addams Family” is at Elkhart Civic Theatre

Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Grandma, Uncle Fester and Lurch — plus Wednesday’s boyfriend Lucas and his “normal” mom and dad arrive November 6 for a three weekend run at Elkhart Civic Theatre’s Bristol Opera House. When the Addams’ invite the prospective in-laws to dinner, hidden secrets, ghostly ancestors and strange pets aren’t the only surprises in this award-winning musical based on the famous New Yorker cartoons, the 60s TV show and the motion pictures.  “The Addams Family” is presented with major underwriting from Thor Industries and media support from WVPE public radio.

The story of this version of “The Addams Family” is every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

“The Addams Family” is directed by Penny Meyers, assistant directed by Annette Kaczanowski, with vocal direction by Kim Dooley, music direction by Mark Swendsen, and choreography by Valerie Ong and Stephanie Isley.

Tickets for “The Addams Family” are available online at www.elkhartcivictheatre.org or by calling 574-848-4116 weekday afternoons.
